Slow traffic movement reported on NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar National Highway) due to single-lane sections at Banihal, Dewal, Nashri–Dalwas, Marog–Kishtwari Pather and breakdown of heavy motor vehicles (HMVs).

With snowfall and rainfall forecast over the next few days, travelers are advised to check latest road status before starting their journey through TCU Jammu / Srinagar / Ramban and official J&K Traffic Police channels.
🚘 Travel Guidelines (Key Points):
• Daytime travel recommended on Jammu–Srinagar NH-44
• Avoid night travel, especially between Nashri Tunnel & Navyug Tunnel
• Movement of nomads from Kashmir to Jammu may cause congestion
• Strict lane discipline advised; wrong-lane driving and overtaking will lead to jams
🛣️ Route Status (Subject to fair weather & road conditions):
• NH-44: LMVs, passenger vehicles, private cars & HMVs (goods carriers) allowed from both sides
• NH-244 Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag: LMVs allowed from both sides between 1000 hrs – 1500 hrs (after NHIDCL clearance)

Light to moderate snowfall likely over higher reaches of Kashmir Division (KMR) including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, Zojila Pass, Sinthan Pass, Razdan Pass, upper Kupwara and Bandipora.
Light rain expected at many places across Srinagar, Anantnag, Baramulla, Budgam, Pulwama, Shopian and parts of Jammu region from 20th night to 21st late afternoon/evening.
22 December 2025:
Light snowfall at isolated higher reaches including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Zojila Pass, Sinthan Top, upper Kishtwar and Doda.
23–29 December 2025:
Partly cloudy weather across Srinagar, Jammu, Anantnag, Baramulla, Kupwara, Kathua, Udhampur, Ramban, Kulgam, Poonch and Rajouri.
⚠️ Travel Advisory:
Travellers on Zojila Pass, Sinthan Pass, Mughal Road, SSG Road, NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar Highway) should stay alert for weather changes, snowfall, rain, reduced visibility and possible traffic disruptions.

Slow traffic was observed due to single-lane stretches at Balinalla, Dewal, Nashri–Dalwas and between Marog–Kishtwari Pather, along with HMW breakdowns.
👉 Day travel is advised. Avoid night movement, especially between Nashri Tunnel & Navyug Tunnel, due to HMW movement and inconvenience risks.
👉 Subject to fair weather & road conditions, LMVs/Passenger vehicles/Private cars/HMVs (goods carriers) are allowed from both sides.
SFs Convoy Movement:
Allowed on NH-44 from both sides after confirmation from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag (NH-244):
Only LMVs permitted from both sides after NHDICL clearance, between 10:00 hrs – 15:00 hrs (PP Parana & PP Daksum).
SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri):
Traffic regulated.
Minamarg → Srinagar: 05:00 – 10:00 hrs
Sonamarg → Kargil: 11:30 – 17:30 hrs
No movement beyond cut-off timings.
Mughal Road:
Open for LMVs/Private Cars via Poonch after GREF clearance.
Behramgala (Baffliaz): 06:00 – 17:30 hrs
Herpora (Shopian): 06:00 – 17:00 hrs

As per the latest advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K (Jammu/Srinagar), slow movement has been observed on NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar Highway) due to single-lane traffic at Banihal, Dewal, Nashri–Dalwas and Marog–Kishtwari Pather, along with breakdown of a few heavy vehicles.
Passengers and LMV operators are advised to travel during daytime only and avoid night movement, especially between Nashri Tunnel and NAVYUG Tunnel, as HMV movement and nomadic migration may cause inconvenience. Vehicles will be allowed from both sides on NH-44, subject to fair weather and road conditions.
On Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag (NH-244), only LMVs will be allowed from both sides between 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs, after clearance from authorities.
SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri) and Mughal Road will remain open in a regulated manner, strictly subject to weather, road condition, and prescribed time schedules.
Travelers are strongly advised to confirm road status before starting the journey and follow lane discipline to avoid congestion.
