Road Update – Kinnaur District

✅ All major routes in Kinnaur are open, with a few diversions/controls:

Chaura – Samdo (NH-05): Open, but at Nigulsari, traffic allowed one side at a time in 30-min intervals (narrow stretch).

Powari – Kalpa (NH505A): Open.

Karcham – Chitkul: Open, but traffic diverted via Astangche (PS Sangla) due to road collapse near Sangla Bus Stand.

Wangtoo – Kafnoo: Open.

Bhabhanagar – Nichar: Open.

Namgia – Shipkila: Open.

👉 Travelers should expect slight delays at Nigulsari & Sangla diversion. Otherwise, smooth movement across the district.

🔹 Jammu–Srinagar NH-44 (NHW):

Not fully restored at Tharad, Udhampur (single lane ~250–300m).

Only one-way traffic for LMVs tomorrow – Jammu → Srinagar (from Nagrota 07:00–10:00 AM).

No LMV allowed from Srinagar → Jammu on NH-44 during this slot.

Mughal road open for LMVs both ways.

HMV movement restricted; stranded HMV clearance managed after LMVs.

🔹 Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag (NH-244):

Open for LMVs both ways, timings: 08:00–15:00 hrs (subject to weather).

🔹 SSG Road (Sonamarg–Kargil–Leh):

Open for LMVs 05:00–07:30 AM (Sonamarg → Kargil), return 08:00–10:00 AM (Kargil → Sonamarg).

HMVs allowed separately after clearance.

🔹 Mughal Road (via Poonch):

LMVs allowed 06:00–17:30 hrs (Batharangal → Poonch / Shopian → Poonch).

No HMV after 10:00 hrs from Herpora.

HMVs with perishables (fruits, livestock) allowed with conditions.

Sarkaghat–Dharampur (use Sarkaghat–Parchu–Loungni–Sajao–Dharampur as alternate)

As per the latest update from Kinnaur Police:

🚨 Traffic Update | Jammu–Srinagar NH-44

NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar Highway) has not been fully restored at Tharad, Udhampur. Very slow movement due to intermittent rain, single-lane traffic, damaged stretch & movement of nomadic flocks.
Traffic regulated at Tharad (Udhampur) – only single lane open for about 250–300 mtrs.
Tomorrow (25-09-2025): Subject to fair weather & road condition 👉 Only one-way traffic for LMVs from Srinagar towards Jammu will be allowed on NH-44.
No LMV/HMV shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar.
LMVs from Doda, Kishtwar & Ramban (Jammu side) permitted via Nagrota (0700–1000 hrs) but must cross Nashri Tunnel before 1000 hrs.
HMVs to Jammu allowed from Navyug Tunnel (Qazigund side) only after clearance from TCU Srinagar/Ramban.
🔹 Other Roads
Mughal Road: Open for LMVs both ways (timings fixed). HMVs carrying essentials allowed only from Poonch side before 0900 hrs.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244: LMVs allowed 0800–1500 hrs (with green signal).
SSG Road (Sonamarg–Gumri): LMVs followed by HMVs from both sides at notified timings.
⚠️ Advisory: Travelers are urged to confirm status with Traffic Control Units before journey.

I stayed at Olgah Manali – it’s a good property and the vibe is cozy. The balcony views are just wow, Perfect spot to sit with a cup of chai and soak in the mountains.
