Due to the onset of winter and dropping temperatures, snow has started accumulating along riverbanks in Lahaul & Spiti, making the terrain extremely slippery and unstable. The Chandra River has become colder and more turbulent, posing serious risks to tourists and locals who venture close for selfies, videos, or crossing.

🚫 As per the official order, tourists are strictly prohibited from going near or into the Chandra River stretch between:

🏞 Koksar to Tandi Sangam (Keylong)

🌉 Atharghu Bridge to Sumdo (Kaza)

❄️ Why this advisory matters:

High risk of slipping on icy riverbanks

Sudden formation of ice sheets and unpredictable currents

Life-threatening situations and danger to rescue personnel

⚠️ Penalty for violation:

Imprisonment up to 8 days ❌

Fine from ₹1,000 to ₹5,000, or both as per Section 115 of H.P. Police Act.

Traffic Update – NH-44, Mughal Road & SSG Road | 15-10-2025 🚦

There is slow movement on NH-44 due to single-lane traffic at Balinalia, Dewal, Nashri-Dalwas and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather because of the breakdown of 5 HMVs and movement of 25 nomadic flocks.

🚚 Goods carriers with perishable/livestock are advised to strictly follow the advisory to avoid congestion.
🚗 LMVs (Passenger/Private Cars) allowed from:

Nagrota (Jammu) ➝ Srinagar: ⏰ 08:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Qazigund ➝ Jammu: ⏰ 09:00 AM – 10:00 AM

⛔ No vehicle shall be allowed to move before or after cut-off timings.

🚛 HMVs permitted from Jammu towards Srinagar after clearance from Jakhani (Udhampur).

🚔 Security Forces Convoy advised to avoid opposite movement due to narrow carriageway between Tharad – Balinalia/Marog – Kishtwar Pather.

🛣 Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag NH-244:

LMVs allowed ⏰ 08:00 AM – 12:00 PM from both sides.

🛤 SSG Road:

LMVs followed by HMVs allowed from Minamarg ➝ Srinagar ⏰ 05:00 AM – 10:00 AM.

🏔 Mughal Road:

Traffic at Nigulsari is allowed in 30-minute intervals from each side due to a narrow stretch.

3. Karcham – Chitkul ➝ Open 🚧

Traffic diverted via Astangche (Police Station Sangla) due to road collapse near Sangla Bus Stand.

4. Wangtoo – Kafnoo ➝ Open

5. Bhabhanagar – Nichar ➝ Open

6. Namgia – Shipkila ➝ Open

Mani Ram Dhaba (Jana Waterfall)
True hidden gem. Dhaba sits right beside a waterfall. Food is authentic Himachali — red rice, rajma, siddu, etc. Scenic mountain-valley views. Very homely.
How to reach _ On the route to the jungles of Kais, near Manali — in a remote village beside the waterfall at Jana.

Taxi drivers (or guides) quote very high fares to places like Solang, Rohtang, etc. Sometimes they say gear or snow-attire is not available elsewhere so you have to buy from them at inflated rate
