Route: Jammu–Srinagar NH-44 (National Highway)
Status: ⚠️ Partially Restored
The Jammu–Srinagar NH-44 has not been fully restored at Tharad, Udhampur after multiple shooting stones and mudslides blocked the route for over 10 hours 30 minutes. Traffic remains slow due to single-lane movement at Tharad and breakdown of several heavy vehicles.
HMVs (Goods Carriers): Only stranded HMVs at Qazigund area are being released towards Jammu. Movement from Udhampur to Srinagar will be allowed only after clearance of down HMV tail from Tharad–Udhampur.
LMVs: Only one-way traffic from Srinagar towards Jammu will be permitted on 9th October 2025, subject to weather and road conditions. Vehicles allowed via Navyug Tunnel (Qazigund side) between 0700–1000 hrs.
No LMVs from Jammu towards Srinagar on NH-44 for now.
Mughal Road: Open for both directions (Jammu ↔ Srinagar) for LMVs/private cars between 0600–1700 hrs, depending on clearance from GREF.

Traffic Update | Source: Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K (Advisory dated 07-10-2025)
The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has not been fully restored at Tharad, Udhampur, causing very slow movement due to single-lane traffic and breakdown of multiple heavy motor vehicles (HMVs). Movement of goods carriers carrying perishables and livestock is advised only after checking the latest updates from the Traffic Police Headquarters due to poor road conditions and ongoing congestion caused by nomadic flocks.
As per the advisory, LMVs from Nagrota (Jammu) will be allowed to move towards Srinagar between 0700 hrs and 1000 hrs, while no LMV traffic will be allowed from Srinagar to Jammu during that time. HMVs will be allowed from NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) towards Jammu only after the HMV tail crosses Kishtwar Pather.
Mughal Road remains open for LMVs from both Srinagar and Jammu sides, while Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244) continues to remain closed due to fresh snowfall.
Security Forces have also been advised to adhere strictly to traffic plans to avoid congestion between Tharad and Banihal/Marg/Kishtwar Pather.
Travelers are urged to confirm road conditions before starting their journey by contacting the Traffic Control Units (TCU) at Jammu, Srinagar, Ramban, and other listed helplines.
