So, being a travel enthusiast myself, I had been planning to take my 1-year-old daughter on a road trip to show her the different shades of this world. But, it wasn’t not easy at all. Our family advised us to think about it carefully. But, we, as travel-loving parents, felt it was time to go for it. We planned everything, loaded our car with a Baby bag, diapers, snacks and all the essentials needed for a perfect road trip—especially with a child. We hit the road from Delhi to Udaipur with our 1-year-old daughter. Though, I was confident, but a little emotional and excited about this journey.
Why Udaipur Was Our Top Pick for Baby’s First Road Trip: 2025
- Scenic & Smooth Roads: Delhi to Udaipur via NH48 offers a clean, wide highway — great for baby-friendly stops.
- Driveable Distance: Around 660 km in 11-12 hours, doable with strategic breaks and an early morning start.
- Weather in July: Monsoon showers had painted the Aravallis green. It was warm but not scorching, and the rain added a magical touch to the lakes and palaces.
- Udaipur’s Calm Vibe: It’s not chaotic like big cities. Less honking, more lakeside peace — perfect for families with toddlers.

Travel Tips : 2025 Delhi to Udaipur Road Trip with a Baby
I prefer starting trips early in the morning or late at night to avoid traffic. So, we started our journey around 5 AM. We Installed a baby seat in the back, positioned between mom and pillow wall, used sunshades on the car windows to give extra comfort. We took short breaks every 2-2.5 hours for feeding, fresh air and stretching. When our daughter was awake, we played baby rhymes to keep her engaged during the trip.
Route Taken : Delhi to Udaipur
The roads were excellent from Delhi to Udaipur, except a few rough patches before Jaipur due to flyover/road construction with minor patches between Kishangarh and Nathdwara due to monsoon repair work.

Would We Recommend a Road Trip with a Baby?
I would always recommend traveling with a baby, as it’s a learning experience for both parents and kids. It changes the mindset of traveling, not just ticking off spots but truly experiencing, living in the moment and feeling every part of the journey. It taught us patience, adaptability and how to find joy in the little things. Our daughter may not remember Udaipur, but we’ll always cherish this trip as her first big adventure.
